Episode 65: Super Charge Your In-Person Interactions

James Eder joins us from London, England, for our second of three Skype audio mentoring conversations. He has created Causr.co, a social App now found on iTunes. Using a social App to connect from one human to another seems like a return to old school networking but this is different. This method of using a social App to connect with up to 300 people around you is a game changer.

Children are taught at young ages about stranger danger. When these children enter the work place and are expected to get out and network with new people, it can be a metaphorical stumbling block.  James’ social App can work around those inhibiting social teachings.

The social App is a way to briefly screen someone online before meeting them face-to-face. The end user gives permission to connect. Confidence is enhanced because you are reaching out to a professional in cyberspace through the context of commonalities. You find things you have in common. Maybe you are travelling to a similar destination. Maybe your flight is delayed for your job interview, a fellow traveler could be looking to hire someone with your qualifications. James has other examples of how people have used Causr.co App with great success.

James describes what inspired his technology software and how he transformed his neighborhood over a three-year period starting with a social App invite to a holiday gathering. He encourages people to exercise personal leadership to help others. James practices what he preaches which gives him the street cred to expand his multi-venture enterprises. He has a solid reputation in England (read the article in Mentoring Conversation Resources).

I am fascinated with James’ vision. You’ll have to listen to find out how his vision can inspire a possible revamping of your vision. He also has great advice for advancing your ideas, daily. He reveals a funding source for his first venture, Student Beans. Find out how he came up with the company name. Hint: It is so English!

Mentoring Tips

  • “When you’re on your path, the universe will conspire to help you.” (The Alchemist, Paulo Coelho) You can hear this happening in James’ life. Do you feel the universe helping you?

Answer the questions after listening:

  • How can you exercise personal leadership in your neighborhood this week?
  • How can you form and facilitate a deeper connection with the communities around you?
  • What are the three areas Causr.co was built on to easily connect with others around you?
  • How would you use Causr.co if you had downloaded the app from iTunes?
  • Have you ever had baked beans on toast? I will need to consult my neighbor from London, England for the details. (Blue Heinz can of baked beans in tomato sauce? I would be more inclined to try black beans on toast. I’ll keep you posted on my findings!)
  • “Remember that wherever your heart is, there you will find your treasure.” – Paulo Coelho
