Episode 60: Negotiating a Bigger Pie Creates Win/Wins

Random Acts of Kindness Week is February 12-18. Acts of kindness can increase happiness levels and lead to better health, not only for the giver and recipient, but even those who observe it. Join the movement and do something nice for a coworker, friend or stranger during RAK Week, or anytime! Check out the link below. #RAKWEEK2017            randomactsofkindness.org

After you do a few random acts of kindness, a great valentine’s gift to yourself could be joining one of our WeMentor Entrepreneurial Leadership and Mentoring LABS. Truly belonging in our group process means you can present your authentic, imperfect self, and imperfect business in a way that creates space to overcome primal barriers to self-growth. This leads to self-mastery and leadership revolution. Think about it.

This week Glen McCluskey offers a more expansive view of business planning and negotiating. He became an attorney later in his career and runs a sole legal practice for small business.

Glen wrote an article for business owners entitled, Get It In Writing. Published on September 1, 2015. “Make sure, he writes, the writing is clear and concise, and keep it on file. This is the best way to make sure that the deal you thought you entered into can be proven and enforced, if need be. Contracts and other such documents are an essential business tool to memorialize a business relationship.”

He knows business planning is painful. There are tough questions to ask. Obstacles to be overcome. In the long run, planning before launching your business is cheaper emotionally, saves time later, and like I always say, better to make financial mistakes on paper than in your pocketbook.

Glen shares his upbringing and wealth of knowledge and experience. His thoughts on negotiating are worth hearing. There are ways to make a pie bigger where everyone can be happy. There doesn’t need to be just one winner in negotiations.
