Today’s Episode. We’re setting the mood. We start today’s conversation where we left off last week, in a thunderstorm as we listen to ARENA playing, Should I. “It is Rock-n-Roll,” says Tim Kletti. You can hear the enthusiasm and energy he exudes from doing what he loves and being fully invested in life. It is catchy. Download

Our conversation revolves around the memorable tagline Tim created for Winmark Corporation Reuse. Recycle. Rock. Tim is Director of Music Go Round, one of their five franchised brands. Tim gives insights into how he has helped build a reputation for the long-term from knowing who you are and what you do. Gene Simmons and KISS seem to keep popping into the conversation. Even the 7-season reality show Gene began in 2006, Family Jewels, is discussed and his fan related Three Sides of the Coin podcast. Gene is a role model, not only for Tim, but for the music industry.

Finding the right people for Music Go Round is a big challenge. Finding musicians is easy. Finding musicians who also are gifted in money management or willing to learn, not as common. Who is Winmark Corporation? What do they value? How do they do business? What is more important, building rapidly or taking the time to find and train the right franchisees? Why is one of the answers crucial to who they are as people running a franchise corporation?

Here are some basic questions Tim answers, when considering a franchisor such as Winmark Corporation and its five franchise brands:

  • How much $ do you need to buy-in to a Music Go Round franchise?
  • How does a franchise work?
  • What is Tim’s philosophy and some of his mantras?
o Doing the unexpected and delivering the unexpected is one of Tim’s mantras.

When we talk about Tim’s brilliance, he says, “I fell into a river of gold and people thought I was a genius!” We finish our conversation with Tim describing how he and his band wrote Vicious Circle and what the song is about.
Tim’s four Arena members are Linda Bullock (vocalist), Tedd Bullock (base player), Tim on guitar, and drummer, Billy Wesp. They have built a legacy of writing music together, self-producing their 2016 debut album, and touring on weekends. They are performing on Friday, see the details below.

Mentoring Tips

After you listen:

  • Take a few minutes to write down a few people you have learned the most from and what you have learned from them. How can you use what you have learned in your life right now?
  • Tim’s philosophy of what has worked for him, and for KISS, is to define who you are going to be and then find your path to execute that. Try defining who you are going to be and write out your path to executing that. Email me the results. If you get stuck, email me for help.
  • Evaluate your marketing dollars by putting a survey together for customers/clients/end users to see if you need to move your traditional marketing dollars to digital media.
  • Go See ARENA on Friday, November 10th, 2017 at Reggies Brewhouse – Owatonna, MN.
    o Purchase 2016 Debut Album https://www.arenarocks.com/music
