Episode 179: Two Ways to Examine Your Inner Landscape

Mike Kabeya gives two ways to examine your inner landscape that, in turn, shifts your outer life. He views all relationships, and what we experience, as spiritual, even our relationship in how we have helped each other over the years of working on this podcast together. DOWNLOAD

One way to examine your inner landscape is learning about Kundalini energy. Mike describes how one awakens the Kundalini energy. The dormant serpent is best awakened with the supervision of a skilled guide to clear out and open up the chakras. We have these powerful energy centers within us and provided to us by the Universe. We might as well learn how to use these energies.

Kundalini

The second way Mike has explored his inner landscape is through a contemplative spirituality known as the Nine Basic Personality Types in the Enneagram (or the nine faces or virtues of God). You begin with a test to determine which personality Type you view the world through. You have two accompanying Types known as wings. Knowing your Type helps you figure out what informs your actions. It is a tool to also develop tolerance. The end journey of the Enneagram leads you to embrace all nine liberating qualities. A journey beyond type and beyond self. You release quick judgments of others to become more informed about similarities and differences and learn how to live differently in the world.

Enneagram

I took the Fast Enneagram Test after our conversation. You can too. (See the Activation Exercises below). You start with understanding your top three of nine personality types. Mike is the Peacemaker, Investigator, and Loyalist. I am the Challenger/Leader, Enthusiast/Adventurer, and Loyalist/Security Seeker. We discuss all nine types.

To continue your maturation process Self-Leadership is key. To mature means to take charge in  how you lead, manage the pace of self-growth and choose your mentors as you go. You own every aspect of your life. It is an interdependent state of leading where you release dependency on other people, institutions, and social and religious structures to determine who you are. You commit to a deeper investigation into who you are. You claim who you are and self-direct the areas of self-growth that you feel you need to work on next. It takes listening to your inner master.

Mike is an example of Self-Leadership. He took charge of the next phase of growth by becoming a Spiritual Director. Your spirituality is that integral aspect of your life as a leader that creates meaning and purpose to your existence. It was a two-year process of using an expansive lens to explore his spirituality. This process has strengthened his intrinsic value as a human being. You can hear the clarity of his inner self through the wisdom he shares. This designation informs his life work through Kabeya Media.
