Major Dr. Subhasini Mahipathi and Nagender (Mahi) Mahipathi are incredible examples of social entrepreneurship. The investment they have to serve the broader community is grounded at home through unique family traditions. They are raising two boys (Inesh and Samant) whom you will find picking a street together to clean-up on their respective birthdays. Little contributions add up to an expanding positive influence.
Mahi co-owns two ventures. We discussed Pizza Karma last week. This week we discuss RNXT Corporation where Mahi Makes IT Happen! DOWNLOAD
Lin-Manuel Miranda, in his smash Broadway hit, Hamilton, reinforced what I have found in working with hundreds of immigrants and thousands of first-generation business owners, “immigrants get things done.” It doesn’t mean those of us here before them are lazy. Immigrants are not entrenched in our Democracy and they have a drive to succeed. Plus, they usually are sending money to their country of origin. We don’t have the same things to prove.
First-generation business owners and immigrants are hungry to make an impact and build a successful life. With a strong vision, you can accomplish great things. My Great, Great Grandparents who immigrated from Holdorf and Oldenburg, Germany in the 1800s, raised 10 children, introduced a new breed of Holstein cows to the region, donated land for a new church and school, and even got a town named after them. Meier Grove, Minnesota has its origin through my gene pool. The Meyer last name spelled Meijer changed to Meier and then Meyer. Like many immigrants, once you land in America, you change your name to fit in. Nagender is Mahi for ease of becoming known and remembered. A new land prompts new opportunities for new beginnings.
America is like a new land of opportunities right now. Resilience is required going forward. Institutions are crumbling. Social unrest is on the rise. How we police people is under construction. The Covid-19 pandemic is out of control. Unemployment is higher than in the Great Depression. The Republican party has imploded from corrupt leadership. Leading economic indicators project a Recession. The list goes on and on. Now is the time to put a stake in the ground, and if you aren’t clear on your life mission and purpose, get clear. You will make a more significant impact when you know where you are going. Do what is needed and necessary to serve a greater mission. Mahi has solid advice for you going forward.
