A devastating year didn’t deter gourmet chef Liza Atkinson from a challenging 2020 launch in March. Just as she established the foundation of Nosh and Gather, a plan B was necessary to survive. Nosh to Go was born. A pick-up and delivery service for families to nosh at home. Liza is nothing if she is not adaptable and responsive to these times we live through with the coronavirus pandemic’s unpredictable nature.
Seeing this year through the eyes of a budding entrepreneur in the food industry paints the real story of our lives right now. Liza talks with me from her car. The commercial kitchen she cooks in was too loud and busy. Are you getting a picture of her life right now? Food scarcities, stay-at-home orders, dramatic lifestyle changes of her clients. Liza’s quick ability to adapt, create, and implement is why she is doing more than surviving this year. DOWNLOAD
In January, a test and soft launch prepared Liza for a real launch in March with the rolling out of her website and catering services. No one could have prepared her for what she has encountered with her clients’ changing needs so far this year.
- Stay-at-home, cook at home, sick of cooking at home, limited cooking skills, not good at cooking at home, and no time to cook at home.
- Lots of food, limited food options, shortages. Searching for Restaurant Depot options.
- Canceled events, some events, to Zoom holiday gatherings and intimate celebrations.
Hear how Liza has adapted and responded to the changing needs of clients and appealing to new ones. She addressed George Floyd’s murder through an old tradition, bringing food to the families directly impacted by George Floyd’s murder. By providing those meals, another need in south Minneapolis surfaced, more families in need. Please find out the details of how she is feeding six families in need each week and what she has on the menu for 25 orders and two catering events. Do you get creative in tricky situations? Find out how Liza thinks.
The passion, ingenuity, and compassion Liza brings to her venture lives in Liza’s psyche and is expressed through her hands. The hands that nourish and nurture a community of growing families. Meals are at the center of meeting our universal human needs to connect, be seen, and be fed. It is thrilling to hear how Liza describes the spotting of needs and the resources she pulls together to thrive in this first year of business. How adept she is at noticing opportunities can inspire you with new ideas and maybe even discovering the love language you express through your business.

Conscious Attentive Leadership Mentoring
After listening, do the following three WeMentor C.A.L.M. Exercises:
- Take this risk: Determine how you will celebrate the holidays from here to New Year’s Day. You can download one of my favorite soups during the fall and winter: Root Vegetable Soup Recipe
- Apply Self-Compassion: Answer this question each day: what do I love?
- Welcome Appreciation: You can shape your holidays by asking each person what would be meaningful to them during Halloween, Thanksgiving, celebrated religious holidays, and New Year. Plan according to meeting each person’s needs.
“I believe finally, that education must be conceived as a continuing reconstruction of experience; that the process and the goal of education are one and the same thing.” – John Dewey

Aliza Atkinson. Liza is a Minnesota girl with fierce cooking skills in the kitchen. Food truly is her love language.
Her Gourmet Cooking Club – traveled to France together in 2019. For more than a decade, Liza has been part of a monthly gourmet cooking group in the Twin Cities. Over the years, she has crushed dinner parties, and people have been asking her how they can join or start their cooking club. Liza created Nosh and Gather Pop-Up Dinner Parties so others could be part of this unique dining experience.
Nosh to Go was born years ago when her babies were babies and her girlfriends (who also had babies), and she would batch cook and swap meals once-a-month so they could all push the easy button on busy weeknights. As her kids got older, she kept batching cooking and meal prepping to keep her fridge stocked for the busy week ahead. Over time, people asked if they could get in on this and pay her to stock their fridge too, so here she is, Goshin’ and Gatherin’ with offerings for many.
When she is not busy cooking in the kitchen, she can be found hanging with her sweet hub and three kiddos spending time outside, having Beyonce dance parties, or reading Harry Potter snuggled on the couch.
Liza loves to travel, whether it is a big trip abroad or a cabin weekend up north. Getting away refreshes her foodie spirit and rejuvenates her desire to keep learning about herself, bolstering her ability to create and do for others.
