Q. What is the difference between a mentor and a coach?
A. Coaching is a dimension of mentoring and not the other way around. A coach is task and performance-focused toward specific goals. A mentor has a developmental focus. Two different perspectives and ways they work with you. A competent coach and mentor have the same desire to help you grow and become a better leader, performer, and human.
We build competencies in business ownership and leadership. We are immersed in the process as you implement and tweak new skill sets. Mentors teach new skills as the learner implements new ways of leading. An effective mentor knows when a client needs support, encouragement, and a nudge to grow.
We work to develop an underlying friendship over time based on trust, accountability, and mutual understanding that both of our best interest is being considered in a relationship. Our relationship is not transactional. We equally shift as we grow to understand one another and share our learnings.
We improve how we communicate and connect with others by learning what it feels like to be in healthy relationships and get our needs met. It is so gratifying to have clients become friends and improve all of their relationships as a result. To become great at anything it takes practice and lots of do-overs and perseverance. We learn by taking risks, getting feedback, and making mistakes. We have room for do-overs. Progress not perfection is our motto.
WeMentor by building a resilient mindset and discussing your well-being openly. We address your immediate needs, shore up business development gaps, expand relational literacy, and build upon your entrepreneurial leadership skillsets with short-term value-based goals and a long-term perspective. We address all aspects of one’s life and business.
We do complex things by creating the time for heart conversations as our relationship evolves and changes. You don’t have to guess or wonder what is happening. We share our insights. We use our influence to share power through a collaborative learning process as you expand and increase your ability to relate in healthy ways as you lead and mentor others. Courage is built one layer or block at a time.
“Even a 10% increase in relational literacy can improve all of your relatings,” says Melanie Joy, Ph.D.

Q. How do I know I have the right mentor?
A. “The undistinguished teacher/mentor/parent tells.
The good teacher/mentor/parent explains.
The great teacher/mentor/parent demonstrates, collaborates, and inspires.” -Nancy A. Meyer, M.A.
Through the mentoring process, you will be empowered to feel more deeply to think, act, and lead more clearly and effectively. We invest in your evolutional leadership journey, not control it or have control over you. You are in charge of your journey. We look to you to assert self-leadership and take charge of all aspects of your life and how you lead.
We collaborate with you to set strategic value-based goals, help you overcome barriers as you evolve and innovate, and sort out what you feel you need to learn. We inspire you to live your values by becoming skilled in practicing integrity and honoring dignity in every interaction while building upon your business acumen. Nancy calls this Dual Innovation Leadership because you redefine how you lead while redesigning your business. We encourage bravery by helping you do the heart things.
Nancy is exceptionally skilled at exploring opportunities and fetching workable ideas to make them real. She can help you understand how you lead and become more profitable in your venture.

Q. Why do I need a mentor?
A. Great leaders hire skilled mentors and coaches to gain the following skill set required in Self-Leadership Mastery. Why? We need feedback and insight to acquire a less attached view of ourselves. We need “relational literacy,” according to Dr. Melanie Joy, “the understanding of and ability to practice healthy ways of relating – is essential for personal, social, and ecological transformation.”
According to developmental psychologist Susanne Cook-Greuter, only 3% of people have mastered the art of observing and managing themselves. We are not taught relational literacy. We can increase that percentage with your collaborations and training with competent mentors. We can practice integrity and honor one’s dignity in every interaction. We can expand our consciousness and be more present.
Suppose that isn’t convincing enough for you to hire a coach or mentor. How about this sobering fact? “While the path to building a great company is narrow, there are many ways to succumb to catastrophic decline and failure.” —Jim Collins (2020, Beyond Entrepreneurship 2.0: Turning Your Business into an Enduring Great Company, p. 169).
Great mentors guide you along the narrow path to building an enduring legacy. They can encourage swimming in the middle of a river flowing with the current instead of trying to swim upstream. Or, as actor and producer Michael Douglas put it, “a great mentor can save you a lot of pain.” Learning relational literacy and simultaneously expanding your business acumen with a mentor can help you increase the odds of building a healthy legacy worth passing on. Isn’t that something worth pondering?
Q. How much does it cost to reach self-leadership mastery, boost one's business acumen, and build an enduring legacy?
A. It depends on your goals, project timelines, and the pace of how you evolve. Evolving leaders learn that being resilient leaders is inevitable. They are eager to invest in self-leadership development and build business competencies because they know it is part of the innovation process and builds confidence grounded in reality.
Nancy works with you on the length of time and the pacing. Think in terms of years and phases, not months. Nancy has many resources and will help you find other mentors.
The interest in finding a mentor begins with a nudge or an internal desire you have to change something.
The need for mentoring can also arise from a crisis forced upon us, like responding to the coronavirus pandemic and its variants from 2020 to 2023. The global shutdown was the crisis that forced us to change our lives and how we do business. We needed to respond immediately and creatively to generate cash and adapt to the changing needs of our clients or end users. We start the mentoring process where innovation begins, with you and your curiosity.
Mentoring Options:
One-on-one strategic mentoring sessions range from $300/session to $3,000/month, or more, depending on goals and project timelines.
WeMentor LABs. Together we figure out the best LAB for you of the three LABs offered with an investment of $60 to $295 monthly.

Q. How do I know I have the right mentor?
Q. What qualities do I look for in an effective mentor and how long do mentoring relationships last?
A. Entrepreneurship and business ownership are quite an unexpected self-discovery journey at every turning point. Consider learning from many mentors your entire life. One criterion in picking your next mentor could be considering someone one or two years from where you want to be.
You will know intuitively when it is time to transition to a new mentor or take a break. Some mentors become lifelong friends.
Effective mentors foster long-term change, expand your awareness, offer wisdom, constructive feedback, and insight. They have a purpose and are invested in helping you realize goals through accountability, education, and clarity of purpose.
An effective mentor inspires you to understand and own your history instead of outrunning it. Imagine uncovering new things about yourself that you can bring forward through your venture. You get to co-create your future with new tactics, tools, and strategies for massive implementation and action to realize an evolving vision for your business and life—simple, intentional steps day after day.
