Episode 121: Overcoming Hermit Status

“Micro Business owners suffer from three things,” says Jackie Menne of Joule U and MB2MB events, publications, and educational programming. Most micros home office. This can lead to isolation. How does Jackie propose to break the ‘hermit status?’ Click Here

Getting the right support and resources is another challenge for solopreneurs. The third area Jackie addresses that cause micros to pause is the challenge in constantly drumming up new business. We talk about social media. Jackie has found most micros are introverted, enjoy solitude, and attend minimal events, so how does she address the three point of pain areas for micros?

Jackie’s latest project is a quid pro quo collaboration with a charter school, Venture Academy (by Hwy. 280 and the University of Minnesota); a K-8 and High School leadership based academic setting founded in 2008. Consider getting a High School entrepreneurial focused intern for 10-weeks. Learn some of the details.

What is Jackie’s connection to KSTP television station/Hubbard Broadcasting in Minnesota?

To address the volatility in today’s marketplace, Jackie has unique advice for micros and those venturing into the career world. How does security play a part in her advice?

Jackie published her first issue of MB2MB in 2014 with 250 micro businesses listed. Family Health issues caused a pause in publication. This is an area of vulnerability with micros. Jackie chose to delay publishing to 2017 where 500 micros listed their business in her publication. For her Spring, 2018 edition, 750 micros listed in this publication. Also included are facts you never knew and a guide to do business with other micros. Get listed in her publication below.

Podcast Guest Mentor

Jackie Menne. Lived in Minnesota long enough to call it home, yet still a transplant from Cincinnati. Landed her dream job right out of school as a writer, actually copywriter for a hit radio station that played them (hits) and brought in the stars who sang them. Met most. Struck an empathetic chord.

Moved into television and then actually moved…to Minnesota. Lasted a few years at CBS and ABC then found the wonderful world of advertising.

Worked for big companies, big brands and big shots. Retail giants. Consumer goods. Music industry.

Became a Boat rocker. Crusader. Realist.

Got close to the top of the ladder but stepped down. Not afraid of heights, tired of the view. Left to become a master juggler and wearer of hats. Ran small agencies. Climbed step-stools. Finally, back on the ground to write and create Synergy Advertising. A microbiz. Later Joule, a place for microbiz. Now MB2MB a publication about microbiz.

Still a Boat Rocker. Crusader. Realist. And now an Advocate—for Micros.
