Episode 160: Create Change in Your Office, Home, and Life

Julie Ann Segal of Metro Interiors, today’s podcast guest, and I are co-mentoring this year’s first  WeMentor Mini LAB: Designing Your Office, Home, and Life with Vision Boards.

Get ready to do a deep discovery dive into clarifying what you want more of in your office, home, and life. A fresh perspective into the first quarter of this year can be a game changer for the rest of the year.

Vision Boards are a powerful tool to create change in your work space and living environment. Change Your Space, Change Your Life is the title of Julie Ann’s upcoming book. She is living the Feng Shui concepts and principles she teaches to her clients. She explains how her life changed when she changed her space. These changes weren’t happenstance. She shares the details.

Why is Julie Ann doing a workshop series and a WeMentor Mini LAB? “Space reflects how you are living and working. People are not reflective in how they are living in their homes and in their work spaces. They need help,” Julie Ann states. Things get out of order and cluttered quite easily. What Julie Ann knows for sure is that if you don’t make changes in your space, you stay where you are. She wants to help you change your space to attract more of what you want into your life, work, and home. You can learn more and sign-up for the WeMentor Mini LAB in the Mentoring Tips section below.

Julie Ann was validated early of her entrepreneurial spirit. A school counselor told her she would be a business owner. She learned a skill from her piano teacher that she applied to friends in the neighborhood by inviting them over. She would teach and have them practice what she was learning as a tumbler and gymnast for $1.00. The same amount she paid for her piano lessons.

You will hear how Julie Ann’s life took a dramatic turn when her family moved from Cincinnati, OH to Peoria, IL. How did she self-medicate at age 10 to cope with the changes? A settling presence moved into her family’s home which helped. Who was it?

Avon came calling at age 14. Julie Ann learned about making sales, collecting money, and developing creative strategies to develop a following and deepen her connections with peers as an Avon Lady. She was quite inventive as she reflects upon her youth in building her brand.

Her adventurous spirit led her to where she has settled, Minneapolis, Minnesota. How many firms did she work with before starting her own interior design firm, Metro Interiors? Her Jewish Community is here for support. She has built connections and a solid reputation blending the ancient art of Feng Shui with a variety of contemporary Interior Design practices that lead to redesigned spaces rich in comfort, beauty, balance, and harmony. She wants to bring this into your spaces.

Some common examples of the benefits of Feng Shui are:

  • Reaching your goals faster
  • Enhancing your wealth
  • Having more peace in your life
  • Letting go of the past
  • Lifting your spirits or inspiring you
  • Improving your health
  • Giving you more energy

Resources

  • What is Feng Shui and How Does It Work?
  • A Vision Board is a surface on which you display images that represent circumstances or events that you would like to happen.  It is one of the many tools that can help you to visualize your intentions and get you into the right frame of mind to achieve them.  It can include drawings, photographs, or words that describe the things you would like to acquire or achieve, such as buying a new home or going on a nice vacation with your partner.  Cutting out these images from magazines, on the internet and promotional ads are a few places to find them.
