Episode 185: Overcome 3 Common Mistakes in Running a Business

Have you ever made bookkeeping mistakes? What did it cost you? Receipt issues? Challenges with money management? How about hiring mistakes and growing too fast? Ever hire the wrong person? Are you a quick learner? Do you have technology frustrations? Domonique Jones and I discuss the answers to all those questions and make suggestions along the way. Domonique unplugs as we explore three common mistakes business owners make and what to do about them. DOWNLOAD

There are certain presumptions we have about millennials and technology. Being a tech savvy millennial, Domonique has some insights that could help you in dealing with the pressure of keeping up. I chime in with my own experience and suggestions as well.

Our conversation is fast paced, infused with a high volume of energy, and packed with useable tidbits about business ownership. You get a glimpse of what Domonique is working on for 2020 with the City of Minneapolis. Her success formula is to apply lessons she learned from her other ventures and from her continual work with entrepreneurs at MEDA as she ventures into real estate and expands her talent agency. Now listen to Domonique Jones Unplugged.

WeMentor Self-Leadership Activation Exercises:

  • What is your success formula? Please share it by responding to this email or adding a comment in a social media post connected with this episode.
  • Can you relate to some of the mistakes we discussed in today’s podcast conversation? These mistakes do not define who you are. You can hear Domonique’s playful attitude toward herself. She can even laugh at her mistakes. They are lessons needing to be learned. Once you learn the lesson(s), let go of the experience. Anything short of that is shaming or holding a grudge. This can keep you from experiencing joy.
  • If you are having trouble forgiving yourself and others, we have a solution for you. Join us in November for a forgiveness LAB. Mary Hayes-Grieco and I are co-mentoring this LAB to give you the process and tools you need to forgive anyone and everyone.
    • We  have all been wounded in the workplace, some, or many, self-induced wounds. It is time to heal those wounds. We will take you through a forgiveness process to forgive yourself and others in this LAB for business owners and their teams, and whoever else you would like to invite into our forgiveness circle. Learn the art of forgiveness and free yourself to take more risks in creating something new in the world.
