Over the weekend I presented at Joule’s MB2MB Micro Expo. Jackie Menne put on a great event at Venture Academy in Minneapolis. Audience members revisited their core values, lifework, and life purpose. They also took the WeMentor Entrepreneurial Characteristics Appraisal™ to identify their unique combination of characteristics. Those in business for ten plus years even learned a few more things about themselves. It was invigorating to see the ahas in the room. (See Mentoring Resources for Jackie’s podcast episodes.)
This experience got me thinking about today’s brick-n-mortar conversation with Annette Rondano from The Great Metropolitan Backrub. The school is in a strip mall with Pappa John’s Pizza. A new addition in the business district by the University of Minnesota. The brick-n-mortar landscape needs the 22 million United States micro businesses (business with up to 10 employees) to make over business districts full of available retail space that will otherwise be populated with more chains and big box stores. We discuss another business popping up in more areas. The socially conscious business model challenging the allopathy
system since its inception in 1991.
